I think I should break down my songs or at least have a space to do so.

So, first on the list is our newest song, "something more than nothing".

I'll count all the stars
Till I see you again
I'll turn every leaf
Till I feel like you again

Could it be something?
More than nothing?
More than nothing?

I flew with the birds
just to see you in the morning time
the morning time

I took a picture
But it's not the same
I thought I missed you
So, I called your name
But everything fades
And it's not the same
I'll try and stay abord
But waves
They call my name

And I'll go
And I'll go
And I'll go
I'll go

When I wrote this song I was in Dustin's studio, we came up with the guitar part first. The chords are Fmaj7 and Cmaj7 so really easy and simple. Originally the chords went c to f and not f to c but I changed it at the end because it just didn't feel right like that. The vocal recording is actually one take, you can hear me fighting for my breath sometimes, it was a new expedition in terms of music, I've been listening to a ton of The Beatles, and wanted something simple, cohesive and intriguing. At the same time when doing the vocals I was trying to channel my inner Maria, and sing like the Marias (don't sue me)

First stanza is me touching into that feeling of longing for something, someone, maybe even oneself.
In east Texas all we have are trees, The leaves will pile several feet high some autumns, and I will turn every leaf just to feel like I did when I was a kid playing in the leaf's.

Second stanza is me asking and it's actually a prayer about my music, as I wrote this on the couch, I looked outside and from the open window I called onto my lord. As I asked "Could this be something? Something, anything, anything is more than nothing. I want my dreams to see its fruits; I wish to be something more than nothing.

Flew with the birds just to see you in the morning time.
I think that stanza is kind of self-explanatory.

This is then followed up by a beautiful guitar composed by @dustincavazos
And this whole guitar part was probably the most difficult thing to figure out, but we saw it through and I'm eternally grateful for my friend Dustin.

I don't actually like photos, I hate my phone, I want the real thing.
I'm also bad at calling so I think the thought of a person is better.
I know everything will fade even my defenses
I'll try to stay aboard the ship sailing through the strait, but the temptations call my name.
And I'll go.

The cover I feel like it's the complete opposite from the song.
The picture "Electric chair" by Andy Warhol, so distorted, so dark. He adds light to it, he makes it more than nothing, he makes it his, and that is my perspective in life. That is who I want to be.

Everyone can be something more than nothing
Because anyone can make something out of nothing.
So, could it be something more than nothing?

luv u
